VIETNAM MANUFACTURING EXPO (VME) 2017: STEPPING INTO “MODERN” MANUFACTURING INTELLIGENCE

Manufacturing issues have only grown more complex, manufacturers now find themselves under pressure for more rapid change to optimize costs, quality and efficiency. "Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) 2017" will come back as its 9th edition from 26 - 28 April, 2017 at Hanoi International Center For Exhibition (I.C.E., Hanoi) and focus on the “manufacturing intelligence” to serve current call.

“Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) 2017” which is organized by Reed Tradex Co., Ltd. will continue its support to Vietnam’s manufacturing industry and set up the mission to bring Vietnam’s manufacturers step into “modern” manufacturing intelligence by rich contents of metrology and assembly automation. The organizer – Reed Tradex Co. Ltd. believe that the ability to increase productivity in the manufacturing facilities and a higher quality end product are the on-time answers toward the increasing needs of market about product's precision.

Ms. Kasinee Phantteeranurak, Project Manager of Reed Tradex Co. Ltd. Shared: “In the next few decades, about 56% of all salaried workers in Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam could be displaced by automation and advanced technologies. That’s the conclusion of an extensive series of new studies by the International Labour Organization (ILO). With labour costs rapidly rising across Asia, manufacturers are facing the same challenges that their counterparts in Europe and North America faced around fifty years ago. As a result of this shift, automation is going to become increasingly important for the industry”.

“Investing in capital is not a short-term plan and doesn’t happen overnight, especially for the emerging economic like Vietnam. Typically, the initial cost of an industrial robot (including systems engineering costs) is approximately $250,000. The scale of investment is simply too large for most manufacturers who do not see the value in the current market climate and many of these organisations simply add more people to the work force”, Ms. Kasinee added.

There is another citation from Mr. Rene De Kok, ScanCom's Commercial Director, that “As a company, we cannot see much how increasing the workforce is a viable solution to the longer term challenges facing the industry. Increasingly adept with the technology, particularly in terms of correctly calibrating the equipment, and when the machinery is at an optimum level of operation the increases in productivity and quality can be enormous”.

Mr. Tran Thanh Thuy, former Deputy Head of the Electronics, Informatics and Automation Research Institute, said recently: "Vietnamese scientists have had significant achievements related to automation, robotic and intelligence control. However, available infrastructure remains outdated and the market is still small, making production costs too expensive".

Indeed, mass-scale displacement won’t happen overnight, but it’s already in the works. Ms. Kasinee Phantteeranurak shared: “Sometimes the way to save money is to invest more, it’s not just about spending money, but also the upgrading or adding some suitable corrections of technology to current production system. Investing in equipment and technology that makes the manufacturing process faster can actually lower the production costs in the long run. It's time for manufacturers in Vietnam to step up into “modern” manufacturing intelligence.”

The quest for enhanced productivity, increased quality of goods and cost optimization in the integration tendency will be unveiled at “Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) 2017”.  It's not only the presence of the leading brands in metrology and assembly automation, but also experts in the industry, always be ready to share technical experience and technology's knowledge to the entire visitor. Typically, at the event, there will be the participant of leading metrology providers such as Hexagon, Nikon, Scantech, Wenzel, MAT; and also experts in automation industry such as Misumi, Keyence, Tsubaki, Ulvac, etc.

Three days of the exhibition will be opened widely from 26 – 28 April, 2017 at Hanoi International Center For Exhibition (I.C.E., Hanoi) to welcome the entire local and foreign industrialists, and also comes along with business match making program in which the participants no need to be charged any fee, it’s in term of the concept to deliver the highest opportunity between investors and manufacturers/ suppliers.
