VN'S SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROCESS NEEDS IMF'S HELP

During the economic restructuring process, Viet Nam will concentrate on restructuring the banking system, renewing the State-owned enterprises, developing the private sector and attracting more foreign investment, revealed the State President.

He also highlighted the assistance of the IMF to Viet Nam in all fields, especially its preferential loans and policy consultancy.

Ms. Christine Lagarde hailed Viet Nam’s achievements in poverty reduction, controlling inflation and universal primary education and the nation’s development strategy heading to quality and sustainability.

The IMF hopes to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam in advantageous areas, committing to providing technical assistance for Viet Nam to stabilize the macro-economy, she added.

VN, Hungary sign agreement on criminal matters

State President Truong Tan Sang witnessed the signing of a mutual legal assistance agreement on criminal matters between Viet Nam and Hungary in Ha Noi on March 16.

The signatories are Prosecutor General of the Viet Nam Supreme People’s Procuracy Nguyen Hoa Binh and Hungarian Minister of Justice Laszlo Trochani.

The agreement is significant to improve the legal cooperation framework between the two countries.

It also creates a foundation for law agencies to enhance mutual assistance in investigating, prosecuting, and handling criminal cases, especially cross-border crime, as well as to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the two nations’ citizens.
