DOMESTIC FLIGHTS TO RESUME OPERATIONS TOMORROW
Local carriers are expected to resume domestic flights on a limited scale starting tomorrow, April 23.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has submitted to the Ministry of Transport a plan for the local aviation market for April 23-30, when the social distancing order in major cities is expected to be lifted, Thanh Nien newspaper reported.
There will be 20 daily flights on the busiest route linking Hanoi and HCMC. Of these, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and low-cost airline Vietjet Air are scheduled to operate six daily flights each. The frequency of flights by Jetstar Pacific and Bamboo Airways will be four flights each per day.
As for services on the routes between Hanoi/HCMC and Danang, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet will operate three daily flights each. Besides this, each of the two remaining airlines is allowed to transport passengers on two flights per day.
Further, each of the carriers can offer once-daily services to people traveling from Hanoi/HCMC to other localities or between localities excluding Hanoi and HCMC.
Meanwhile, four daily roundtrip flights will be available on the HCMC-Con Dao route.
The national aviation authority asked the local carriers to maintain compliance with the prime minister’s directives on Covid-19 infection prevention and control efforts.
The airlines must ask passengers to declare their health online and undergo health checks before departure. Passengers must wear face masks and keep a certain distance from others while on board.
Also, the airlines have to refuse to transport any passengers suspected of having symptoms of coronavirus and must ensure cabin crew and technical engineers on all flights wear protective suits.
