VIỆT NAM SEES ROBUST GROWTH IN AIR TRANSPORT MARKET OVER PAST DECADE

Việt Nam has seen strong growth in its air transport market over the past decade, jumping from the 11th largest air passenger market in the Asia-Pacific region in 2014 to the eighth largest in 2024, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It also registered the highest growth rate among the top 10 markets in the region at 121 per cent, driven by the country’s strong economic performance and growing appeal as a travel destination.

HCM CITY SEES SOLID SOCIO-ECONOMIC GROWTH IN APRIL

HCM City saw positive growth across many areas in April, especially tourism revenue, thanks to recent celebrations, according to a meeting to assess the city’s socio-economic achievements on Thursday. Lê Thị Huỳnh Mai, director of HCM City’s Department of Finance, said that the city’s retail sales and consumer service revenue in April increased by 20 per cent year-on-year.

HOLIDAY TOURISM SURGES IN HCMC

Nearly two million visitors flocked to HCMC during the five-day holiday for Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1), with tourism revenue more than doubling year-on-year to over VND7.1 trillion, according to the city’s tourism authority. The HCMC Department of Tourism reported that from April 27 to May 1, the city received around 1.95 million visitors, rocketing 101% over the same period last year.

In January 2025 alone, Vietnam reported over 2.1 million international arrivals, marking a 36.9% increase compared to the same period last year, according to statistics from Footprint Travel. Visitor numbers from Russia soared by more than 116%, while major European markets—including the UK, France, Germany, and Italy—recorded robust double-digit growth.

OVER SIX MILLION FOREIGN VISITORS COME TO VIETNAM IN Q1

Vietnam recorded over six million international arrivals in the first quarter of 2025, the highest quarterly figure on record, official data showed. The number of foreign visitors rose 29.6% from the same period in 2024, according to the General Statistics Office. March alone saw 2.05 million arrivals, up nearly 29% year-on-year.
