According to Dang Huong Giang, director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the extended Tet holiday, combined with early and coordinated preparation of tourism activities and products, is expected to drive tourism growth. The focus, she said, is not only on attracting more visitors but also on improving the quality of growth by encouraging longer stays and higher spending.
VIETNAM TOPS SOUTHEAST ASIA IN ATTRACTING CHINESE TOURISTS
According to China Trading Desk, a travel technology and marketing firm, Chinese travelers are expected to make between 165 million and 175 million outbound trips this year, compared with about 155 million trips in 2025. South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand are forecast to be the three most favored destinations, thanks to their proximity to China, convenient air connections and diverse tourism offerings.
INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS TO PHU QUOC AT RECORD HIGH
On January 17, Phu Quoc International Airport handled 47 international flights in a single day, the highest level since the airport began operations. Earlier, on January 3, the airport had already set a new record with 46 international flights in one day. Notably, the surge was not confined to a few peak days. International arrivals were maintained at a high level throughout January, pointing to a more sustained and stable expansion of the international travel market to the island.
HCMC TOURISM POSTS STRONG REVENUE GROWTH IN 2025
HCMC’s tourism sector generated around VND279 trillion in revenue in 2025, continuing strong growth and strengthening the city’s position as Vietnam’s top tourism hub. The figures were released during the annual review conference held by the HCMC Department of Tourism on December 30. The event also outlined key priorities for 2026, local media reported.
HANOI CITY TOURISM REVENUE EXCEEDS VND134 TRILLION IN 2025
Visitors have spent more than VND134 trillion in Hanoi City in 2025, as the city has posted record tourist arrivals, according to the city’s Department of Tourism. The capital city has welcomed an estimated 33.7 million visitors during the year, including more than 7.8 million international arrivals, according to the department’s report released on December 25. All key indicators rose by over 20% compared to 2024.
VIETNAM TARGETS 25 MILLION INTERNATIONAL VISITORS IN 2026
Vietnam’s tourism industry aims to attract 25 million international visitors in 2026, building on strong growth and record performance in 2025, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT). The target was announced at a conference held on December 24 to review the sector’s 2025 performance and outline tasks for 2026.
VIETNAM WELCOMES 20 MILLIONTH INTERNATIONAL VISITOR IN 2025
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said international arrivals to Vietnam in 2025 rose by around 21% year-on-year. The growth rate far exceeded the global tourism average of about 5% and the Asia-Pacific average of 8%. Compared with pre-pandemic levels, Vietnam’s tourism recovery has surpassed 110%, while global tourism has recovered to around 90%, according to the ministry.
OVER 19 MILLION INTERNATIONAL VISITORS COME TO VIETNAM IN JAN-NOV
Vietnam received more than 19.1 million international visitors in the first 11 months of 2025, a 20.9% increase year-on-year and the highest level ever recorded, according to the National Statistics Office. The figure surpasses the full-year record of 18 million arrivals set in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. Nearly two million foreign visitors arrived in November alone, up 14.2% from October and 15.6% from the same period last year.
