HCMC – HCMC’s tourism sector generated around VND279 trillion in revenue in 2025, continuing strong growth and strengthening the city’s position as Vietnam’s top tourism hub.

The figures were released during the annual review conference held by the HCMC Department of Tourism on December 30. The event also outlined key priorities for 2026, local media reported.

Despite global economic volatility and increasing competition among destinations, Vietnam’s tourism industry continued to grow strongly, according to national authorities.

Nguyen Trung Khanh, director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, said at the event that Vietnam is expected to welcome around 21.5 million international visitors and 135 million domestic travelers in 2025, with total tourism revenue nationwide exceeding VND1 quadrillion. With an estimated growth of about 21%, Vietnam ranks among the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets, as assessed by UN Tourism.

Against that backdrop, HCMC achieved broad-based gains. The southern metropolis is estimated to have welcomed about 8.56 million international visitors and 45.6 million domestic tourists in 2025, reaching 101% of its annual revenue goal, according to data presented at the conference.

Nguyen Van Dung, vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, stated that the results not only show strong performance but also highlight the city’s vitality and openness as an international destination. He emphasized that tourism has played a significant role in the city’s overall economic growth.

HCMC’s gross regional domestic product grew by over 8% in 2025, reinforcing its position as Vietnam’s economic driver. State budget revenue, updated through December 26, reached VND775.6 trillion, or 113.5% of the annual estimate, with tourism among the main contributing sectors.

Looking ahead to 2026, the city has set a state budget revenue target of VND803 trillion. Authorities have identified science and technology, innovation, and infrastructure development as major growth drivers, while reaffirming tourism as one of the city’s key economic pillars.
