1. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries

a. Agriculture

The area of ​​summer-autumn rice cultivation of the country this year was estimated at 2,105.2 thousand hectares, equivalent to the same period last year. Up to the middle of August, the country harvested 1,056.9 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, equaling 111.1% over the same period last year. According to local reports, yield of summer-autumn rice on harvested area was about 54.9-55.4 quintals / ha, increased 1-1.5 quintals / ha over same period last year.

Up to August 15, localities in the country have planted 914.1 thousand hectares of maize, equaling 96.3% over the same period last year; 66.2 thousand hectares of soybeans, equaling 88.1%; 173 thousand hectares of peanuts, 97.5%; 854.9 thousand ha of vegetables, beans, equaling 94.4%; Sweet potato alone reached 101.7 thousand ha, equaling 101.4%.

The nationwide buffalo was estimated to have decreased by 0.5% over the same period last year; cattle increased 2.8%; pigs reduced by 4%; poultry up 5.1%.

In the first eight months of 2017, aquaculture production was estimated at 4,738.4 thousand tons, up 4.6% against the same period last year, of which aquaculture production reached 2,490.9 thousand tons, up 4, 3%; Production of exploited aquatic products reached 2,247.5 thousand tons, up 4.9%.

2. Industry

For the first eight months of 2017, industrial production index increased 6.7% over the same period last year, lower than the 7.2% growth of the same period in 2016 [1] but higher than the 6.5% increase of 7 months of this year.

In the eight months of this year, the country has 85,357 newly established registered enterprises with a total registered capital of 822.1 trillion VND, increasing 16.3% in enterprises and 44.8% in registered capital over the same period in 2016; The average registered capital of newly established enterprises was VND9.6 billion, up 24.5%[3]. Including 1,108.3 trillion dong of nearly 24,700 turns of businesses changed the capital increase, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first 8 months of 2017 is 1,930.4 trillion VND. 4. Investment

Foreign direct investment from the beginning of the year to 20/8/2017 attracted 1,624 newly licensed projects with a registered capital of $ 13.5 billion, an increase of 0.3% in number of projects and an increase of 37. 4% in registered capital over the same period of 2016. 5. State budget revenues and expenditures

Turnover from tourism was estimated at 23.1 trillion VND, accounting for 0.9% of the total and increasing 11% over the same period last year. Revenue from other services was estimated at VND303.4 trillion, accounting for 11.8% of the total and up 8.9% over the same period last year.

a. Farmers’ food shortage

In the eight months of 2017, the country had 161.9 thousand households of food shortage, down 33.5% over the same period last year, corresponding to 664.2 thousand people of food shortage, down 34.2%. To overcome hunger, from the beginning of the year to now, the levels, branches and organizations from the central to local levels have provided food shortage households with 17.3 thousand tons of food and about 1.1 billion VND.

b. Situation of disease, food poisoning

Generally, in 8 months, there were nearly 43.2 thousand cases of foot and mouth disease in the whole country; 402 cases of typhoid; 495 cases of encephalitis virus (15 deaths); 24 cases of meningococcal meningitis (3 deaths); 131 cases of Culex tritaeniorhynchus encephalitis (4 deaths); 28 cases infected Zika virus; 508 cases of pertussis (5 deaths) and 126 cases of human strep thrombosis (11 deaths).

The viral hemorrhagic fever epidemic continues to evolve with the increasing number of hospitalized patients. In August there were 27.2 thousand cases (8 deaths), bringing the total number of cases in 8 months to 80.6 thousand cases, of which 60.1 thousand cases. Hospitalized (22 deaths).

The total number of HIV infected people living in the country as of 17/8/2017 is 219.8 thousand people, of which 91 thousand have been transitioned to AIDS; the death toll from HIV / AIDS in the country to date was 91.9 thousand people.

Between December 18, 2016 and 17/8/2017, there were 77 serious food poisoning cases in the whole country, of which 2,231 persons were poisoned, of which 17 were fatal.

c. Traffic accidents

In the eight months of 2017, 12,775 traffic accidents occurred in the whole country, including 6,295 traffic accidents of less serious or more and 6,480 traffic crashes, leaving 5,422 dead, 3,153 Injured and 7,381 people were slightly injured. On average, in the first eight months of 2017, 53 accidents occurred in the whole country, including 26 minor traffic accidents and 27 traffic crashes, leaving 22 dead, 13 were injured and 30 were slightly injured.

d. Damage caused by natural disaster

In 8 months of 2017, natural disasters made 140 people died and lost, 135 injured; 29.7 thousand houses were collapsed by landslide, roofs blown away; 44.3 thousand hectares of rice and 30.3 thousand hectares of crops were flooded or damaged. The total value of damage in 8 months is estimated at 4.6 trillion VND.

e. Environmental protection, fire and explosion prevention

Generally, in the first 8 months of 2017, 12,037 cases of violations of environmental protection law have been detected in the whole country, of which 9,856 cases were treated with total fines of over 145.5 billion VND.

In general, in the eight months of this year, 2,915 fires and explosions occurred in the whole country, causing 71 deaths and 188 injuries, estimated at about VND 1,186 billion.
