INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INDEX PICKS UP 5.4% IN APRIL
The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) saw a year-on-year increase of 5.4 percent and a month-on-month growth of 4.5 percent, according to the Ha Noi Statistics Office.
In January-April period, processing and manufacturing industries grew 4.9 percent and 5.1 percent respectively. Electricity energy production and distribution expanded 1.9 percent and 7.6 percent. Water distribution, sewage and waste water treatment grew by 1.5 percent and 9,7 percent. Mining decreased by 16,7 percent.
Ha Noi has been implementing measures to support enterprises to regain growth momentum in 2024, according to Acting Director of the city's Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan.
To keep the trend, Ha Noi has made commitments and affirmed that it will continue to accompany businesses, Lan stressed.
The municipal People's Committee has issued a plan, under which it will that ensure all enterprises producing key industrial products can benefit from the city's support policies.
In addition, the city focuses on effectively and promptly implementing interest rate and credit policies to support businesses, people, and priority areas.
Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Ha Noi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises Mac Quoc Anh said that the National Assembly and the Government have had many solutions in place to accompany the business community.
Last year, despite difficulties, Ha Noi's industrial production returned to growth at a rate of about 3 percent compared to 2022, which was a notable result, the official said.
