CPI RISES 0.46 PCT IN JUNE
Ten out of the 11 groups of services and commodities witnessed rising costs. Transport prices went up at the fastest pace by 2.99 per cent; followed by housing and building materials (up 0.55 per cent); restaurants and services (0.21 per cent); entertainment and tourism (0.18 per cent); beverage and tobacco (0.13 per cent).
Only the group of post and telecom saw a drop of 0.06 per cent.
In the sixth month, the gold price dropped 0.01 per cent and the USD price picked up 0.09 per cent.
The CPI in the first half of 2016 rose at low level, said Vu Thi Thu Thuy, head of the Price Statistics Department under the GSO.
The average index in the first half of the year rose 1.72 per cent to the same period last year, the relatively safe level for the fulfillment of less than 5 per cent inflation rate, the expert said. However, she also warned that the prices of health care services, education and fuel would cause pressure on the CPI in the rest of the year.
