As of 15/7/2013, the winter rice cultivated area over the country reached 1,155,200 hectares, equaling 107.6% compared to that in the same period last year, of which provinces in the North achieved 972,300 hectares, equaling110.3%; provinces in the South completed 183,000 hectares, equaling 95.3% due to earlier harvest of summer-autumn rice and favorable weather.

GDP in the first six months of 2013 achieved an estimated growth of 4.90% percent against the same period in 2012 (4.76percent in the first quarter; and 5.00percent in the second quarter), of which agriculture, forestry and fishery rose 2.07percent, contributed 0.40 point percent to the general growth rate; industry and construction 5.18percent, contributed 1.99 points percent and service 5.92percent, contributed 2.51 points percent.

As of 15/5/2013, provinces in the North finished cultivation of spring rice crop with estimated area of 1,157,100 ha, equaling that in the same crop last year. Hot weather in the month made over 36,000 ha of rice and vegetables infected with harmful worms, of which nearly 10,500 ha suffered from Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn and 3,400 ha from Pyricularia oryzae Carava.

As of April 15, 2013 the country had 3,120,400 ha of spring rice cultivated, equaled 101.4percent from the same period last year, of which provinces in the North completed 1,138,100 ha, equaled 99.2percent and provinces in the South 1,982,300 ha, equaled 102.7percent. As of mid-April, provinces in the South harvested 1,690,800 ha of winter-spring rice, equaled 98.4percent from last year’ same crop.

As of mid-February, the country had 2,649,600 ha of spring rice cultivated, rose10.3percent from the same period last year, of which provinces in the North cultivated 676,100 ha, rose 31.4percent; and provinces in the South 00 ha of spring rice cultivated 1,973,500 ha, rose 4.6percent.

January’s agricultural production mainly focused on cultivation of spring rice crop and other winter crops. As of 15/01/2013, the country had 1,943,000 ha of spring rice cultivated, equaling 104.6% against the same period last year, of which provinces in the North completed 59,000 ha, equaling 65.6%; and provinces in the South 1,884,000 ha, equaling106.6%; the Mekong delta only cultivated1,583,100 ha, equaling109.5%.

As estimated, 2012’s GDP at 1994 constant prices rose 5.03% from 2011, of which it increased by 4.64% in 1st Quarter; by 4.80%in 2nd Quarter; by 5.05% in 3rd Quarter and by 5.44% in 4th Quarter.
