As of 15 August 2015, the country cultivated 1366.6 thousand hectares of winter rice, equaling 94.5% from the same period last year. According to the preliminary report, the country’s yield of summer-autumn rice was estimated to reach 11.2 million tons, approximately 2014’s same crop.

As of mid-July, the country cultivated 2092.5 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice. The early summer-autumn rice area reached 604.3 thousand hectares, rose 7.1% from the similar period last year.

As of May 15, provinces in the North finished the cultivation of winter-spring rice with the estimated area of 1162 thousand hectares, equaling 100.2% from the same crop last year. According to preliminary assessments, Northern provinces’ winter-spring rice output this year was estimated to reach 7.2 million tons, down 40 – 70 thousand tons compared to 2014’s same crop.
