[05-07-2016] Foreign logistic firms are expediting their efforts to tap into the market’s growth following the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community. Clement Blanc, managing director of DHL Global Forwarding Vietnam, told VIR that one key aspect of achieving the AEC is to create an integrated transport market to increase connectivity and help spur ASEAN’s goals of economic integration.

[22-06-2016] The Port of Lazaro Cardenas (LCT), the largest Mexican container port, launched routes to Viet Nam and Chile on June 21 which will save up from 13 to 18 days of transit. According to Alfredco Huesca, the LCT general manager, the sea routes will be operated through an alliance between Trade Link Pacifico and Kansas City Southern de Mexico (KCSM) rail companies.

Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh and Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

[11-05-2016] Cat Bi airport in northern Hai Phong city  became an international airport from May 11 after going through upgrades. The Ministry of Transport has recently recognized that Cat Bi airport is qualified for international flights after the first phase of upgrading. So far, the airport servers both civil and military planes.

[18-04-2016] Nha Trang Port JSC has received a licence to revive Van Phong Port in the central province of Khanh Hoa, which stalled several years ago after the original investor ran out of funds. Hoang Dinh Phi, deputy head of the Van Phong Economic Zone – where the port will come up – said an investment certificate has been issued for the VND417 billion (US$18.7 million) first phase of the port.

[18-04-2016] Maersk Line launched a direct service connecting Vietnam’s southern coast province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and the East Coast of the United States late last week. Arthur Maersk was the first container ship that docked at the Tan Cang-Cai Mep port of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) last Friday.
