VN HAS NEW INT€™L AIRPORT
[11-05-2016] Cat Bi airport in northern Hai Phong city became an international airport from May 11 after going through upgrades. The Ministry of Transport has recently recognized that Cat Bi airport is qualified for international flights after the first phase of upgrading. So far, the airport servers both civil and military planes.
VAN PHONG PORT PROJECT REVIVED
[18-04-2016] Nha Trang Port JSC has received a licence to revive Van Phong Port in the central province of Khanh Hoa, which stalled several years ago after the original investor ran out of funds. Hoang Dinh Phi, deputy head of the Van Phong Economic Zone – where the port will come up – said an investment certificate has been issued for the VND417 billion (US$18.7 million) first phase of the port.
MAERSK LINE LAUNCHES DIRECT SERVICE BETWEEN BR-VT AND U.S. EAST COAST
[18-04-2016] Maersk Line launched a direct service connecting Vietnam’s southern coast province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and the East Coast of the United States late last week. Arthur Maersk was the first container ship that docked at the Tan Cang-Cai Mep port of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) last Friday.
THOUSANDS OF CONTAINERS LEFT AT HAI PHONG PORT
[30-03-2016] The Ministry of Finance will co-ordinate with the Ministry of Transport and Hai Phong Port authority to deal with containers that are lying unused at Hải Phòng Port by the end of April. Cao Trung Ngoan, deputy general director of Hai Phong Port, said nearly 1,000 containers, filled with goods subject for re-export, mostly used tyres, have been left at the port for months.
