In a bid to revive the struggling tourism sector, Vietnam is set to unveil a series of new visa and immigration policies at the upcoming National Assembly meeting. These policies are expected to bolster the country's socioeconomic development by attracting foreign visitors, following the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
VISA EXTENSION PROPOSAL TO HELP BOOST TOURISM: INSIDERS
The Government has agreed to propose to the National Assembly some new policies relating to the immigration, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, including one on a visa extension to 90 days.
RESUMPTION OF AIR ROUTES TO CHINA RESCHEDULED TO LATE APRIL
In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, four Vietnamese and 11 Chinese airlines operated 32 air routes linking 14 Chinese localities and five destinations in Viet Nam namely Ha Noi, HCMC, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang with the weekly frequency of about 240 flights.

VNA RESUMES AIR SERVICE TO HONG KONG
Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has reopened regular flights between the capital city of Hanoi and Hong Kong to meet the high travel demand. The national flag carrier will operate two weekly flights on the Hanoi-Hong Kong route on Wednesdays and Sundays. The frequency will be increased to three flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays from December 26.
IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT WARNS OF ILLEGAL E-VISA APPLICATION WEBSITES
The e-visa fee of US$25 as regulated by the Ministry of Finance, should be paid via the electronic payment gateway, the department noted, as there are a number of businesses and individuals who publish false information on some websites and social networks to seek to gain illegal profits from e-visas issuance.
