[24-11-2016] After almost 10 years of lobbying from HKBAV and HKVCC , finally, on Nov 14, 2016, a new arrangement on entry of nationals of Vietnam for training in HK is coming into effect. Announcement from the Immigration Department The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region:
 
“At present, nationals of Vietnam require a visa to visit Hong Kong. In addition, they are excluded from general immigration schemes for entry for employment, investment, training or study, as well as the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, Immigration Arrangement for Non-local Graduates and Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents.
 
With effect from 14 November 2016, nationals of Vietnam may apply to enter Hong Kong for training. Information on the eligibility criteria for entry for training and application procedures is available on the Immigration Department’s website http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/visas/training.html#firstTab. For the avoidance of doubts, other immigration arrangements in respect of nationals of Vietnam shell remain unchanged”.
