The global economy sank last year after Covid-19 reared its ugly head. It’s been almost a year. Still, no one dares to say when the devasting impact of the virus is going to be over, with hotspots still being reported.

But the stock markets have picked up strongly since its bottom in March 2020, especially the tech stocks, on the back of intervention by the US Fed. Even those vulnerable airline stocks, which were left behind in the March 2020 rally, are slowly clawing their way back since September 2020.

This slow recovery of airline stocks is on the back of news that a few vaccines have been introduced to protect us against the virus.

What’s going to happen in the year 2021? Will Covid-19 reverse all gains and pull us back into another bad patch? HSBA has invited an expert to share with us on his views about the global economy in 2021.
