[18-12-08] Hong Kong today (December 16) signed an Agreement, in Hanoi, with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income.

[12-12-08] Dear HKBAV Members: As you are aware, the Government issued Decree No. 111/2008/ND-CP on 10 October 2008, regulating the regional minimal pay for the Vietnamese employees working for foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs), foreign organizations and agencies, international organizations and foreign individuals in Vietnam.

Dear Member: Please be reported that the 2008 Annual General Meeting held on Dec. 3rd 2008 at Shang Palace Chinese Restaurant was successfully completed. In AGM last year, it has been voted to amend the term of service of the Chairman and Gen. Comm. Members from one year to TWO years.

In 2007 HKBAV won the 1st Runner-up of Regional Grand Prize under the Asia and Australasia region of the Outstanding Membership Award 2007 organized by the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide.

There are now 136 countries/territories agreeing to grant visa-free access or visa-on-arrival to HKSAR passport holders. The following countries/territories have granted visa-free access or visa-on-arrival to HKSAR Passport holders (as at 23 October 2008):

As from 19 October 2008, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) will change all fixed phone number in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and other 53 provinces and cities by adding an extra number "3" at the beginning of current number.
