HK IS NOW IN GROUP A FOR RISK-BASED BOARDING AND COMPULSORY QUARANTINE REQUIREMENTS
In the evening of Dec 30, 2021, the Hong Kong Government escalated Vietnam to be included in the Group A of risk-based boarding with compulsory quarantine requirements effective 00:00 on January 2, 2022.
As such, the following will now apply for HK Residents who want to travel to Hong Kong. Details can be find at https://www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/inbound-travel.html #Vaccination for your reference.
+ Persons Applicable
Hong Kong residents who have stayed in Vietnam during the relevant period (the day of boarding for/arrival at Hong Kong or during the 21 days before that day) and who -
Have been fully vaccinated and hold recognized vaccination record*
+ Boarding Requirement
a. Present recognized vaccination record*
b. Negative result proof of a PCR-based nucleic acid test for COVID-19 within 48 hours (including documentary proofs that the lab is ISO15189 accredited or Government recognized); and
c. Confirmation of room reservation in a DQH for not less than 21 nights starting from the day of arrival at Hong Kong
+ Quarantine Requirement
a. Undergo compulsory quarantine for 21 days in a designated quarantine hotel;
b. Undergo 6 tests during compulsory quarantine) (professional swab sampling);
c. Self-monitoring in the subsequent 7 days; and
d. Compulsory testing on the 26th day of arrival at Hong Kong at any Community Testing Centre (CTC)
*Please note that HK does not currently recognize vaccination record as issued from Vietnam.
HKBAV has spoken to Cathay Pacific that is currently flying into Hong Kong from HCMC and Hanoi, the Hong Kong Economic Trade Office and the Vietnam Consulate in Hong Kong to understand the situation further for our understanding.
The HK Government and the Vietnam Government is working together on the recognition of the Vietnam vaccination record right now and we will update the membership when we have additional input from the competent parties.
At the moment, Cathay Pacific only accepts passengers from Vietnam to Hong Kong if
1) He or she is a HK Resident AND
2) Fully vaccinated with records of 2 shots AND
3) Having a vaccination record recognized by the Hong Kong Government AND
4) Have a booking for 21 nights quarantine with a designated quarantine hotel.
If you booked on upcoming flights to Hong Kong through CX, you may want to contact their reservation desk to look at cancellation or change of date if you booked and got your ticket before 30/12/2021 for Jan 02 to 31, 2022.

You may want to double check with your hotel to see if you can extend the duration or you can negotiate for a refund due to the fact of policy change.
